Metal Forming & Shaping
Metal forming and shaping is the process in which metal parts, objects, materials, etc are subject to mechanical deformation. Deformation includes any reshaping that occurs without adding or removing material, meaning the mass does not change through the process. Machines that form and shape metal include english wheels, letter brakes, power hammers, shrinker stretchers, and slitting machines.
One of the more popular of the forming and shaping machines is the power hammer. A power hammer is typically used in the forging process to strike and shape hot maluable metal. They are primarily used by blacksmiths, however they can also be used to shape sheet metal using a wide range of tooling.
