Slip Rolls

Slip rolls are used in the metal forming process of bending and designed to bend sheet metal and plate. Generally three wide cylindrical rollers are positioned within the machine on three parallel axes with the plate or sheet rolling between the top roller and the lower two. As the plate or sheet is fed into the machine, the top roller is incrementally lowered, generating uneven force on the material thus bending it. The material is fed back and forth through the rollers until the desired bend is achieved. Most slip rolls are hand operated, however some can be powered by electric motors.
